How to configure AI signals

Tune the intelligence behind your personalization engine

Overview

AI Signals are the behavioral and similarity-based data points that power Liva 7’s personalization engine. These signals help the system understand what your customers are doing and how your products relate to each other - so it can deliver smarter, more relevant recommendations.

Step 1: Go to the Targeting rules tab

From the Liva 7 dashboard, open the Targeting Rules tab. Then click into the Signals section.

This is where you can view and monitor the real-time signals that power your personalization logic.

Signals are the data inputs that fuel your targeting rules and recommendation strategies.

Step 2: Review behaviour signals

These signals track what shoppers are doing on your site:

Browsing Behaviour - Captures page views and product interactions
Cart Behaviour - Monitors cart additions and removals
Purchase History - Uses past orders to personalize future suggestions

Each signal shows a status like Active, Waiting for data, or Inactive.

Behaviour signals help the engine understand shopper intent in real time - even before a purchase happens.

Step 3: Review similarity signals

These signals help the system understand how your products relate to one another:

Similarity Patterns - Detects relationships between products based on shared attributes or co-engagement
AI Vector Analysis - Uses machine learning to map product relationships using embeddings

Both signals work together to power smarter recommendations.

Similarity signals help the engine recommend alternatives, bundles, and related products based on product-to-product relationships.

Step 4: Monitor signal status

Each signal displays a real-time status:

Active - Data is flowing and being used
Waiting for data - Signal is enabled but hasn’t received enough activity yet
Inactive - Signal is turned off or not configured

Signals marked 'waiting for data' will activate automatically once enough activity is detected.

Step 5: Troubleshoot or optimize

If a signal isn’t active:

• Make sure your store has traffic and events (like product views or cart activity)
• Check that your Shopify integration is connected and permissions are granted
• Contact support if a signal remains inactive despite traffic

Signals rely on real-time data from your storefront. If traffic is low or tracking is blocked, signals may not activate.

Making It work for you

AI Signals are the foundation of intelligent targeting. The more signals you activate and feed with data, the smarter your experiences become. Start with browsing and similarity signals, then layer in cart and purchase data as your store grows.
