Change Management

Move every material change through a controlled path

Change management connects the proposal, responsible people, staging evidence, Shopify publication boundary and rollback point. The process should become more rigorous as customer impact, automation scope or commercial risk increases.

Use one release path

  1. Describe the problem, goal, affected scope and expected outcome.
  2. Classify the risk and name the owner, reviewer and approver.
  3. Prepare the change in an unpublished or otherwise isolated state.
  4. Test data states, fallbacks, desktop, mobile, keyboard use and reduced motion.
  5. Record approval and the exact Shopify resource or policy being changed.
  6. Publish deliberately, observe the agreed guardrails and retain a rollback point.

Control scope creep

If the change expands to a new audience, action type, theme or automation level, return it to review. An approval for one boundary is not authority for the next.

Small changes still need receipts

A concise record of what changed and why is often enough; invisible changes are what make later diagnosis difficult.
