How to know you're set up correctly with Liva 7

A quick checklist to confirm your personalisation is live and working as expected

Overview

Getting started with Liva 7 is fast, but how do you know it's actually working? Whether you're launching your first block or scaling across your store, it's important to confirm that everything is connected, synced, and delivering results.

This article walks through the key signs that your setup is complete - and what to check if something looks off.

Your data is synced

Liva 7 relies on real-time data from your Shopify store. To confirm everything is connected:

  • Go to the Personalisation tab in your Liva 7 dashboard
  • Check the Engine Status section
  • Look for green indicators next to: Event tracking, products and customers

If any of these show as 'Inactive' or 'not synced', use the manual refresh buttons.

A full sync usually completes within a few minutes. If it takes longer, check your Shopify permissions or contact support.

Blocks are placed in your theme

Once your data is synced, you need to place Liva 7 blocks inside your Shopify theme. This is what activates personalisation on your storefront.

How to add blocks

  • Open your theme editor
  • Select the page template you want to personalise
  • Click the Apps tab in the left panel
  • Add blocks such as Product Recs Block, Bundle Block, Smart Content Block or Widget Block
  • Position them where you want them to appear
  • Save and publish your changes

What appears automatically

The Product Recs Block is the only block that populates automatically. As soon as it is added to a page, it will show personalised product recommendations based on the global strategy you have set for that page type.

This makes it the fastest way to get AI content live.

What requires content you create

All other blocks remain empty until you create content for them inside the Liva 7 app:

  • Bundle Block shows bundles you create
  • Smart Content Block shows personalised banners or messages you create
  • Widget Block shows product‑based widgets you create

Once the content exists, the blocks will display it immediately on your storefront.

Use preview mode to test block visibility before publishing. Make sure blocks are not hidden behind conditional logic or custom code.

Blocks are showing products

A block that appears but shows no products usually means:

  • The strategy has no data yet (e.g. 'Recently Viewed' on a new store)
  • The block is filtered too narrowly (e.g. only showing a specific tag or collection)
  • Product exclusions are hiding too many items

To fix this:

  • Try switching to a broader strategy like 'Smart Mix'
  • Remove or loosen filters in the block settings
  • Check that your products are in stock and visible on the storefront

You can preview each block's logic in the dashboard to see why products are or aren't being shown.

You're seeing impressions and clicks

Once blocks are live and visible, Liva 7 will start tracking performance:

  • Go to the Performance tab in your dashboard
  • Look for metrics like: Impressions (how often the block was seen), Clicks (how often products were clicked), Revenue (how much was generated from those clicks)

If impressions stay at zero after a few hours, double-check that the block is visible and not hidden by theme code or targeting rules.

Use the 'Last 24 Hours' filter to confirm that data is flowing in real time.

You can see personalisation in action

To test personalisation:

  • Visit your store in a private browser window
  • Browse a few products or collections
  • Return to the homepage or cart
  • Look for blocks like 'Recently Viewed', 'Inspired by Your Browsing', or 'Frequently Bought Together' updating based on your activity

This confirms that Liva 7 is tracking behaviour and adapting recommendations in real time.

Final check: the setup checklist

  • Data sync is green
  • Blocks are placed in theme
  • Blocks are showing products
  • Performance metrics are updating
  • Personalisation is visible in test sessions

If all five are true, you're good to go.
