Liva 7 - Quick setup guide
Your fastest path to getting AI recommendations and personalised content live on your store.
Overview
This guide walks you through the essential steps to activate Liva 7 on your Shopify store. You will install the app, sync your data, enable the App Embed, and add your first Product Recs Block.
Once these steps are complete, Liva 7 will begin showing AI powered product recommendations and personalised content automatically. Each section is designed to be simple, clear, and fast to follow.
Install Liva 7
Install Liva 7 from the Shopify App Store. This gives the app access to your products, collections, and storefront so it can begin preparing recommendations.
Installing the app is the first step but does not activate personalisation.
Sync your Store Data
Liva 7 needs your product, customer, and event data to generate accurate recommendations.
How to sync your data:
- Open Liva 7
- Go to Personalization Engine
- Scroll to Data Health
- Click Sync all data
If data is out of date, recommendations may be limited.
Enable the Liva 7 app embed
Shopify requires merchants to explicitly allow apps to load storefront scripts. Until the App Embed is enabled, Liva 7 cannot run.
How to enable the embed:
- Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit theme
- Click the App Embeds icon on the left hand panel at the top left of the page (third one down)
- Toggle on Liva 7
- Click Save
If the embed is off, no recommendations or Smart Content can appear.
Add the Product Recs Block to your homepage
Liva 7 uses Shopify theme blocks as slots where personalised content can appear. Without at least one block, nothing can show on your storefront.
How to add the block:
- Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit theme
- Select Homepage
- Click Add block
- Open the Apps tab
- Choose Liva 7 Product Recs Block
- Position it and click Save
If you do not see the Apps tab, your theme may not be Online Store 2.0.

Once the block is added, your homepage will immediately show AI powered product recommendations. No widget setup is required. The block has a built in strategy that adapts automatically.
The Product Recs block works instantly because it has a default strategy.
Add Product Recs blocks to other pages
You can add the same block to Product, Collection, Cart, and Search pages. Each block adapts automatically to the page it is placed on.
How to add to any page:
- Switch to the correct template
- Click Add section
- Open the Apps tab
- Select the Liva 7 Product Recs block
- Position it and click Save
You only need to add each block once per template.
What each page shows automatically
The Product Recs Block changes strategy depending on the page:
- Product page - complementary or related items
- Collection page - items matching browsing behaviour
- Cart page - relevant add ons
- Search page - suggestions aligned with search intent
These strategies require no configuration.
If your theme has multiple templates
Some themes include templates such as product, product.default, product.custom, or collection.alternate. Make sure you add the block to the template your store actually uses.
If nothing appears, the block is likely on the wrong template.
Add more personalisation blocks
Once your first block is live, you can expand personalisation with:
- Widget Block - behaviour based dynamic content
- Smart Content Block - banners, messages, offers, nudges
- Smart Bundle Block - AI generated bundles and frequently bought together sets
Add them the same way: Add section → Apps → Liva 7.
Widgets and Smart Content unlock deeper personalisation.
