Session-based Settings
How Liva 7 interprets short-term behaviour, manages recency and personalises for shoppers without accounts
Overview
Session behaviour, time decay and anonymous personalisation define how Liva 7 reacts to real-time shopper activity. These settings control how quickly the engine adapts to new signals, how long past actions remain relevant and how personalisation works when the shopper is not logged in. Together, they shape how responsive and accurate recommendations feel across the entire storefront.
Step 1: Go to the Targeting rules tab
From the Liva 7 dashboard, open the Targeting Rules tab and click into the Session section. This is where you’ll find controls for anonymous personalization, session scoring, and signal decay.
Session settings help you personalize experiences based on what shoppers are doing right now - even if they’re not logged in.
Step 2: Enable anonymous personalization
Turn on the Anonymous Personalization toggle. This allows Liva 7 to personalize experiences for visitors who aren’t logged in or don’t have an account.
Anonymous personalization ensures that even first-time or guest visitors receive relevant product recommendations
Step 3: Adjust time-based decay
Use the Decay Window slider to control how long session signals remain active. The default is 15 minutes. As time passes, older signals lose weight, allowing the engine to prioritize recent behavior.
Shorter decay windows make the engine more reactive to recent behavior, while longer windows give more weight to earlier actions.
Step 4: Understand session Sscoring
Toggle Session Scoring to On. This feature calculates a shopper’s purchase intent in real time using a predefined model. You can view how different behaviors contribute to the score:
• Add to cart
• Reached checkout
• Repeat product views
• Products viewed
• Time on site
Liva 7 uses these signals to assign an intent level - from Low to Very High - which can be used to trigger personalized content or product logic.
Step 5: Save and apply
Once you’ve configured your session settings, click Save. These settings will now influence how Liva 7 adapts content and recommendations during each shopper’s session.
Session settings take effect immediately after saving - no need to republish your theme.
Putting it all together
Session-based personalization helps you meet shoppers where they are - in the moment - with content and products that match their intent. It’s especially powerful for anonymous visitors, where traditional targeting isn’t possible.
