Shopify Boundaries

Guide status: Platform-boundary guidance. Last reviewed 14 August 2026. Shopify workflows and Liva 7 integration capabilities can change; verify the current installation, Shopify documentation and visible controls.

Purpose

Liva 7 operates with Shopify but does not replace Shopify's account, theme, catalogue, checkout, permission or billing authority. This guide explains where an operating-system decision can be prepared and where the merchant must complete or verify a platform-controlled action.

Merchant-controlled boundaries

Unless the installed and authorised integration explicitly supports an action, expect the merchant to control:

  • app installation, requested access and account ownership;
  • acceptance of app charges, plan changes and other billed commitments;
  • theme selection, app block or embed placement and final theme publication;
  • product, variant, inventory, price, discount and market configuration;
  • store policies, legal content, consent configuration and customer-data requests;
  • staff permissions and access to Shopify administration.

Keep states separate

Prepared in Liva 7 means a proposed change or configuration exists. Saved in Shopify means the relevant platform record or theme setting was updated. Published means the target environment was made customer-facing. Verified means the intended result was checked on the actual storefront.

No one state proves the next. Shopify can contain multiple themes and templates; always record the target. A successful API or application response does not prove that the active customer experience changed.

Billing

Plan names, prices, included usage and limits should come from the current approved commercial source. Do not publish estimates or future packaging as current fact. Any charge that requires Shopify approval remains pending until the merchant completes the visible Shopify billing flow.

If a capability is unavailable on the current plan, explain the operational effect and available safe alternatives without implying that upgrading guarantees a commercial result.

Publication discipline

  1. Identify the target theme and template.
  2. Preview where the current workflow permits it.
  3. Confirm content, accessibility, fallback and purchase-path behaviour.
  4. Complete the authorised Shopify publication step.
  5. Verify the live storefront and record the result.

Safe use and fallback

If Shopify permission, billing approval or publication state is uncertain, do not represent the action as complete. Keep the Liva 7 item in a waiting or review state and preserve the existing storefront. Never request credentials or ask a merchant to weaken account security to complete an integration.
