How to edit and manage Smart Bundles
How to update, optimise, organise, activate, deactivate, and delete Smart Bundles using the Smart Bundles menu.
Overview
Smart Bundles are dynamic and adapt to your store’s product catalog, inventory, and customer behaviour. As your business evolves, your bundles may need updates to stay relevant, effective, and aligned with your goals.
Managing Smart Bundles helps you:
- Keep bundles fresh and seasonally relevant
- Improve performance using analytics and AI insights
- Adjust bundle size, discounts, and product selection
- Update goals and constraints as your strategy changes
- Ensure bundles appear in the right locations
- Maintain control over AI recommendations
Editing and managing bundles is essential for keeping your recommendations accurate, profitable, and aligned with your merchandising strategy.
Well maintained bundles consistently outperform static bundles because they adapt to your store’s changing needs.
Navigating to the Smart Bundles menu
All bundle management happens inside the Smart Bundles menu.
To access it:
- Open the left navigation
- Click 'Smart Bundles'
- Select the 'Manage Bundles' tab
The Manage Bundles tab displays:
- Bundle name
- Bundle type (AI, template, manual)
- Status
- Performance indicators
- Last updated date
- A three dots menu for actions
The Manage Bundles tab gives you a complete overview of every bundle in your store.
Opening a Bundle for editing
To edit a bundle:
- Go to the Smart Bundles menu
- Open the 'Manage Bundles' tab
- Click the bundle you want to update
This opens the full bundle editor, including:
- General settings
- Advanced settings
- Goals and constraints
- AI intensity
- Contextual settings
- Display locations
- Excluded products
- Custom rules
- Bundle simulator
Example:
Update a seasonal bundle by replacing winter items with spring items while keeping the same structure.
Editing a bundle updates it instantly once saved.
Updating General settings
General settings define the core structure of your bundle.
You can update:
- Bundle name
- Description
- Bundle size
- Discount type and amount
- Display title and subtitle
- Product selection (for manual bundles)
These settings shape how the bundle appears to shoppers.
Example:
Increase the bundle size from two items to three to encourage larger purchases.
General settings define the foundation of your bundle before AI logic is applied.
Refining Goals and Constraints
Goals and constraints tell the AI what the bundle should achieve and what rules it must follow.
You can adjust:
- Primary goal (increase AOV, promote accessories, highlight new products)
- Secondary goals
- Minimum and maximum bundle size
- Product categories to include
- Product categories to exclude
- Price range limits
- Inventory constraints
These settings directly influence the quality and relevance of AI recommendations.
Example:
Change the goal from promoting accessories to promoting slow moving inventory.
Goals and constraints are the most powerful way to influence bundle behaviour.
Adjusting AI Intensity and Contextual Settings
AI intensity controls how strongly the AI influences product selection.
- Low intensity keeps recommendations close to your manual choices
- Medium intensity balances AI suggestions with your rules
- High intensity allows AI to explore more creative combinations
Contextual settings help the AI understand the shopper’s context, such as:
- Complementary items
- Visually matching items
- Items with strong purchase relationships
- Items relevant to the current product page
Example:
Increase AI intensity for fashion bundles to allow more creative outfit combinations.
AI intensity is ideal for fine tuning how much control you want over the bundle.
Updating Display Locations
Display locations decide where the bundle appears on your storefront.
You can choose:
- Product pages
- Collection pages
- Cart page
- Home page
- Custom templates
Example:
Show a frequently bought together bundle only on product pages, but show a discount bundle on the cart page.
Display locations ensure bundles appear exactly where they make the most impact.
Managing Exclusions and Custom Rules
Exclusions and custom rules help you refine bundle behaviour.
Excluded products
You can exclude:
- Out of stock items
- Low margin items
- Items you do not want bundled
- Items from specific categories
Custom rules
You can create rules such as:
- Always include a specific product
- Never include certain categories
- Only include items above a certain price
- Only include items with specific tags
Example:
Exclude gift cards from all bundles and require that at least one accessory is included.
Exclusions and custom rules give you precise control over bundle behaviour.
Testing changes with the Bundle Simulator
The bundle simulator lets you preview how your bundle behaves after editing.
You can:
- Test different starting products
- See how AI responds to your updated goals
- Validate that the bundle makes sense
- Identify irrelevant or unexpected recommendations
- Adjust settings and instantly see the impact
The simulator helps you confirm that your changes produce the right recommendations before publishing.
Example:
If the simulator shows unrelated items, adjust your goals or excluded products.
The simulator is the best way to understand how your bundle will behave in real scenarios.
Activating, deactivating and deleting Bundles
The three dots menu gives you full control over each bundle.
You can:
- Activate or deactivate
- Edit
- Delete
- View analytics
- Adjust settings
Activation
Active bundles appear on the storefront when the Bundle block is added.
Deactivation
Inactive bundles remain saved but do not appear.
Deletion

Deactivate bundles you may reuse later. Delete bundles only when you are sure they are no longer needed.
