How to make sure your Personalised Content Is showing
How to verify your theme blocks, templates, and content assignments so personalised experiences appear correctly on your storefront
Overview
Liva 7 displays personalised content through theme blocks that you add to your Shopify store. These blocks create the defined locations where AI recommendations, bundles, dynamic widgets, and Smart Content can appear. Once the blocks are in place, Liva 7 automatically fills them with the correct content based on your configuration.
If something is not appearing on your storefront, it is usually due to a small setup detail such as a block added to the wrong template, a theme that has not been published, or content that has not yet been assigned. This guide outlines the key checks that ensure your storefront is ready to display personalised content consistently and in the right locations.
By following the steps in this article, you can confirm that your theme blocks are installed correctly, your templates match your store's layout, and your widgets, bundles, and Smart Content are connected and eligible to show. The aim is to provide a clear, reliable process for validating your setup so your personalised experiences appear as expected.
Confirm that Liva 7 blocks are added to your theme
Liva 7 uses theme blocks as content holders. If a block is not added, the content has nowhere to appear.
How to check
- Go to Online Store → Themes
- Click 'Edit theme'
- Select the page you want to check
- Click 'Add section'
- Open the 'Apps' tab
- Look for Liva 7 blocks
If you do not see Liva 7 blocks, you may be in the 'Sections' tab instead of 'Apps'.
If blocks are missing entirely, Liva 7 cannot display any personalised content on that page.
Check which blocks can be added to each page
Each page type supports specific Liva 7 blocks. Adding the correct block ensures the right content can appear.

Make sure the block is added to the correct template
Many Shopify themes include multiple templates for the same page type. If a block is added to the wrong template, it will not appear on the storefront.
How to confirm the correct template
- Open a product or collection in Shopify
- Check the 'Theme template' field
- Add the Liva 7 block to that exact template in the theme editor
This is the most common cause of missing content.
Always match the template shown in Shopify's product or collection settings with the template you edit in the theme editor.
Confirm that your theme is published
If you added blocks to a draft theme, they will not appear on your live store.
How to check
- Go to Online Store → Themes
- Look for the theme marked 'Live'
- If your changes were made on a draft theme, click 'Actions' → 'Publish'
Once published, your Liva 7 blocks become active.
Blocks added to draft themes remain invisible until that theme is published.
Verify that you saved your theme changes
Shopify does not auto-save. After adding or moving a block, click 'Save' in the top right.
If the theme is not saved, the block will not exist on the live storefront.
Unsaved changes are the second most common reason content does not appear.
Confirm that content is assigned to the block
A theme block is only a placeholder. It must be connected to content inside Liva 7.
Check that you have:
- A widget assigned for that page type
- A Smart Content banner assigned to the Smart Content block
- A bundle assigned to the Bundle block
- A strategy configured for Product Recs
- Dynamic content rules set, if used
If the block has no assigned content, it will appear empty.
A block can be present and visible in the theme editor but still show nothing if no content is linked to it.
Ensure your bundle is eligible to show
Bundles have additional requirements. If a bundle is not appearing, check that:
- The bundle is active
- The bundle is assigned to the correct page type
- The products in the bundle are available
- The bundle is not restricted by segment rules
- The bundle block is placed in a visible part of the template
- No theme styling is hiding the block
- No other app is modifying or removing the block container
If any of these conditions are not met, the bundle may not display.
Bundles depend on both theme placement and product availability, so they have more visibility conditions than widgets.
Check that Smart Content has a matching segment
If Smart Content is added but not showing, the customer may not meet the segment or trigger conditions. Also confirm that fallback content is set if you expect a default message to appear.
Use Liva 7's preview mode to test different customer states.
Smart Content only appears when the shopper meets the rules you set, so previewing different states helps confirm eligibility.
Check for theme or app conflicts
Some themes or apps can override or hide blocks. Look for:
- Apps that modify product or cart layouts
- Themes that reorder sections with JavaScript
- CSS that hides app blocks
- Custom code that removes app containers
Testing with a clean theme can help identify conflicts.
If content appears in a fresh theme but not your main theme, a conflict is the likely cause.
